2011 AJA Vineyards Syrah, California
Our first vintage was a cold one, but it made for a distinctly incredible wine. Watch it open up in your glass. We’ve noted for years and years, this wine has only gotten more complex and more unique with age. This glass smells like the morning after rain just before our last harvest of the season. The air is brisk at 6am, but the Malibu Canyons have such a welcoming smell of forest meets sea after a soft rain before dawn. Black pepper surrounds the glass as your senses drift into the subdued fruit notes of black raspberry, cherry and red currant. It carries undertones of cinnamon, vanilla and pie crust. On the palate, this wine is brighter than expected with a body to match the stark damp earthy character, bold but not striking, simply elegant. The finish is dark chocolate.
Wine Proprietor Recommendations:
Decant for 45 minutes prior to enjoying. Enjoy now.
Wine Pairing:
This wine is to be appreciated and cared for with every sip. It will open up gladly and will bring new flavors out of your meal. Pair it with a beautiful Beef Bourguignon, or ask our Bubbie for her famous homemade brisket.
